- Why is our brand name Vita Talalay®?
The Talalay process is named after its inventor. Joseph Talalay was born in Russia and obtained a Ph.D degree in physics and mathematics at the University of St. Petersburg and obtained a degree in mechanical engineering at the Imperial Institute of Technology in Moscow. After the 1917 Revolution, he brought his family to the West and lived in Germany, Belgium and England. In 1940 he moved to the United States. During World War II, he and his sons Anselm and Leon worked together to further develop a new production process for latex foam rubber, later known as the Talalay process. The Talalay family held more than 60 patents in the United States and abroad. Thanks to Joseph and his family, Radium Foam was able to produce Talalay from 1961 and is now the most experienced producer of Talalay latex. The Vita Group is the name of the family to which Radium Foam belongs. A group of 43 locations in 13 countries, focusing on the production of quality latex and foam.
